Bayview St Campus
Williamstown High School Arts Department aims to provide an environment where students will learn to express themselves artistically, acquire lifelong skills and develop an appreciation of the arts.
We believe the aim of the Middle Years Program is to give students a wide range of visual art experiences, so as to develop their creative talent through a variety of median and techniques.
Art is the learning experience that can have a powerful impact on self-esteem and the intellectual and emotional development of each student. The Visual language is best understood through the creative act of producing with instruction emphasizing art history, critical analysis and aesthetics.
Students in the 21st Century need to be visually adept and computer design literate so they maximise their opportunities in the later Years and beyond.
Students will experience working two dimentionally and three dimentionally as well as being exposed to a range of art theory and art history.
We also offer a range of Challenge Units in Years 7, 8 and 9 covering different units and topics.
Challenge Units offered to date are: Year 7 - Ceramics Year 8 - Cartooning/Drawing Year 9 - Ceramics, Mosaics, Printing on canvas, Pop - Street Art, Traditional and Digital Photography
The annual Art and Technology Photography exhibition in Term 4 offers students a great opportunity to display work created during the year. It also gives all students, teachers and parents a fantastic opportunity to view the many different visual arts and technology work done by students during the year. |
