From the moment students are enrolled at our school, they are placed in a Home Group.  The Transition Coordinator, along with the Grade 6 teachers take careful consideration of student mix and group dynamics when creating the Home Groups. Williamstown High School believes strongly in the Home Group being a place where students feel comfortable, supported and are able to become a contributing member of the school community.

Students are allocated a Home Group teacher who generally teaches the group for one or more classes, ensuring familiarity and regular contact.  The Home Group teacher generally remains with this same group from Years 7 to 10.  They are the first contact person for parents at the school and have a pastoral role and responsibility to the students.  The Home Group teacher is in regular contact with parents/guardians on issues ranging from welfare to monitoring class/homework to attendance.  The Year Level Coordinator and the Assistant Campus Principal, while also responsible for student welfare, are responsible for student discipline.

Our Year 7 to 9 students are at our Bayview Street Campus and Years 10 to 12 at our Pasco Street Campus.  Students move from our Bayview Campus to our Pasco Campus with the same Home Group.

We provide an extensive and intensive Orientation Program for our Year 7 students was well as for our Year 9 students for a seamless transition to Year 10 at the Pasco Street Campus.  Our Head Start Programs for Year 11 and Year 12 prepare our students so that they are ensured success in their chosen pathway.  All students at the Pasco Campus are required to participate in the relevant Head Start Program following their end of year exams.

A number of teams provide extensive welfare and curriculum support for the students of Williamstown High School both at the Campus and Whole School levels, including the Student Well-being Team, Curriculum Initiatives Team, VCE Team and the Careers Team.

Each Campus has a Campus Principal and an Assistant Campus Principal to ensure that the programs offered support students both at a curriculum level and welfare level.
