Welcome to Williamstown High School

Victorian Schools' Garden Awards

Congratulations to Helen Bacon, Doug Leckie and Tony Loprieato on winning this years Garden Awards. The school was runner up for the Garden Achievement award, winning $200.00. We were runner up for the Garden Tip of the Month in the education magazine Shine. The school won the Kubota prize of an Art print and certificate. Well done to the students who participated in the Garden awards day at the Botanical Gardens. Last year the school was the Western Regional winner and also received the Botanical Gardens award amounting to $800.00.

The photo above is of Ashleigh Davey of Year 9 a Horticulture student receiving the prize, with the Minister for Education Martin Dixon.

The students also met Jane Edmandson who was a Special Guest of the awards presentation. Jane is pictured below with Chelsea O'Neill and Ashleigh Davey of the Year 9 Girls Unit. Jane has been involved in horticulture for over 35 years and in gardening media since 1989 and as such is one of the most well respected gardeners in Australia. Apart from working on 3AW's Big Backyard and From The Ground Up she presents regularly on Gardening Australia television. She has written six books and is a regular contributor to gardening magazines and enjoys public speaking and taking garden tours. Plus, she loves her garden.

Williamstown High School was established in 1915 and today it is one of Victoria's oldest and most distinguished secondary schools. Its crest, which features an anchor and the motto "Hold Fast", speaks eloquently of the school's historical significance, its importance to the local community, its key values and on-going success at charting a course for life for its diverse and ever evolving student body. Proud of its past, but with an eye firmly on the future, Williamstown High School prepares students so they may become productive adults and responsible citizens.

Williamstown High School offers a diverse curriculum and a variety of educational resources with a particular focus on developing each student's potential. Two nearby campuses combine Williamstown High School's tradition and reputation with unique programs and spacious settings and offers quality resources and facilities that only established growing schools can.
